Cards for a Cause is a fabulous fundraiser that Usborne offers! It's pretty simple to run and can earn the organization some funds and sell something that is really awesome and (not sugary sweet ;) ) It's a great alternative!
First. You want to find the organization. Anyone is eligible to run a CFAC (Cards For A Cause) fundraiser, and any organization is welcome to profit from it. If it is a school associated organization you will need to be an Educational Consultant AND you will need to have that school listed.

Ideas for who:
**Anyone who wants to earn some money** ;) Ha! But seriously, youth groups, mom & tot groups, Child Care Centers, Preschools, T-ball teams, Families (trying to earn money for an expense), the list goes on and on. Think outside the box! There really are SO many options!
Once you know the organization and they have committed to doing it, you will need to explain to the participants what they are doing, how to do it and why it's awesome. :)
Once you know the organization and they have committed to doing it, you will need to explain to the participants what they are doing, how to do it and why it's awesome. :)
How it works:
- Everyone participating receives a pledge sheet ( You can find these in the supply store)
- They go around selling boxes of cards. There are 4 different boxes to choose from. All Occasion #1, All Occassion #2, Thanks & Blanks, and Cards for Kids
- Participants collect money as they go. All checks should be written out to the organization. All monies will go to the organization and they will only pay their portion for the boxes. This is how they immediately receive their funds.
- Once all orders have been received Usborne receives $17/box and the organization keeps $13/box. If there is tax, you need to either take it out of the profit for the organization or cover it with your commission. The boxes will ship for free.
- Submit the order in orderpro. You can ship them to yourself and deliver them, or you can ship directly to the organization. This is part of Step One. In step 2 you will title the order and under order type you will select "Cards for a Cause" You will see there are 2 options, prepaid by consultant or billed to organization. Select which you are doing and then you will go to the next step where you will input the amounts of each type of card box. After getting the correct amount of each box you will proceed to the summary and then finalize the order. If you have selected "prepaid by consultant" you will enter your payment info and proceed. The amount due will only be the $17/box +tax if applicable. The organization will have received all the money and you can request a check for the amount due for the boxes. If you select "bill to organization" you will have to attach a PO and you will still be required to enter you payment info but HO won't bill you because the PO is attached.
Numbers:
The total amount of sales is what is added to your retail numbers for the month. You earn 10% off the total amount sold in commission. So if you sold 100 boxes you would have $3000 in sales added to your sales for the month and you would earn $300 in commission. :)
How to approach someone about doing the fundraiser:
If you know of an organization trying to earn some money for an event you can always let them know, I am a consultant with Usborne Books & More and we have a fabulous fundraiser! It's called Cards for a Cause and basically it's boxes of cards and each box sold allows organizations to earn $13! Each box contains 30 cards that are cute and high quality. I do all the footwork and all I need you to do is help your participants get excited and help remind them and encourage them to sell.
TIPS:
I HIGHLY recommend getting the organizer on board and helping them set a goal. And then have that trickle down to each participant. So if the group as a whole wants to sell 100 boxes and there are 20 participants, each participants goal should be 5 boxes! 5 boxes seems much more doable than 100. And then you can offer prizes and incentives for hitting the goal or being the top seller or something along those lines.
Keeping in touch and reminders are great. Don't be afraid to check in. This will help keep the organizer involved and help keep them accountable for keeping things rolling.
Just like hosts in parties, you get them excited and keep them excited awesome things will happen! :)

Is there a way to order a single box of cards to have as a sample?
